Doctoral defense of Maryna Lukach "A contribution to multivariate generalized rational interval interpolation" (10.30, Campus Middelheim A.143).

Stefano De Marchi (University of Padua, Italy) gives a talk on "A new quasi-Monte Carlo technique based on nonnegative least squares and approximate Fekete points", in room A.143 (CMI) at 11 am.

John Perry (Department of Mathematics, University of Southern Mississippi, USA) gives a talk on "So Macaulay needed a diet...", in room G.004 (CMI) at 2pm.

Min Wu (East China Normal University, Shanghai, China) starts a 1-year stay at our group on the research project "Special functions tables on demand" (in cooperation with the National Institute of Standards, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.). Her stay is funded by the China Scholarship Council.

Madhavi Wadekar joins our research group as a PhD student.

Dolomite Research Week on Approximation in Alba di Canazei (Italy). Annie Cuyt gives a tutorial on “Sparse Interpolation”. Matteo Briani presents a poster titled “A Generalized Parallel Filtering Techniques and the Exponential Sum Model”, a joint work with Annie Cuyt and Wen-shin Lee.

Sait Erkoven (Gebze Institute of Technology, Istanbul, Turkey) visits our research group as an Erasmus PhD student.

The 20th conference on Applications of Computer Algebra (ACA 2014) at Fordham University in New York City (USA). Wen-shin Lee delivers the plenary talk “From Computer Algebra to Signal Processing”.

The 8th International Conference on Curve and Surfaces at Arts & Métiers ParisTech in Paris (France). Irem Yaman gives a talk titled “Radial orthogonality and polynomial approximation on the disk”, a joint work with Annie Cuyt.

Constructive Functions 2014, a conference in honor of Ed Saff's 70th birthday, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee (USA). Two talks are contributed by our group:

• "Exponential analysis, sparse interpolation and Padé approximation”
  (Annie Cuyt and Wen-shin Lee)
• “Prony's method in higher dimensions” (Annie Cuyt and Wen-shin Lee).

Martina Zaccaron (University of Padova, Italy) joins our research group as an Erasmus Master student.
